A responsible person has a legal duty to provide an emergency plan specific to the premises.  As with the Fire Safety Risk Assessment, this must be recorded f you employ five or more people (including part time workers).

Where appropriate the emergency plan should include the details of the following:

  1. Actions on discovering a fire.
  2. Warning if there is a fire.
  3. Calling the Fire Service.
  4. Evacuation of the premises including those particularly at risk.
  5. Places of assembly and roll call.
  6. Liaison with emergency services.
  7. Identification of key escape routes.
  8. The fire fighting equipment provided.
  9. Specific responsibilities in the event of a fire.
  10. Training requirements.
  11. Provision of information to relevant persons.

The emergency plan should be practised and if necessary discussed with the local fire service.
